Perform field sampling and testing of soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, and masonry in accordance with AASHTO, ASTM, and other standards using calibrated equipment. Submit accurate daily test reports, verify data quality, review fellow technicians’ work, and maintain equipment per quality procedures. Adhere to all safety rules and conduct pre-task planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field sampling and testing of soil, base, aggregate, Portland cement concrete, asphaltic concrete, and masonry in accordance with established procedures and standard methods established by AASHTO, ASTM, or other agencies using calibrated testing equipment.
- Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive, and complete testing reports daily in accordance with established quality procedures.
- Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of testing data.
- Review testing records performed by other construction engineering technicians to assure compliance with established procedures.
- Maintain assigned equipment and calibration in accordance with quality management procedures.
- Follow safety rules, practices, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Perform pre-task planning and report safety issues or concerns to management.
Basic / Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Relevant experience or training preferred but not required.
- ACI Concrete Field Grade 1 certification preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license with three (3) or fewer tickets in the past three (3) years.
- Reliable transportation and ability to arrive on-site prior to scheduled times.
- Ability to prepare reports and documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
- Must pass drug test, physical, background check, and meet company driving policy.
Physical Demands
- Physical examination may be required to obtain medical clearance.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and move up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
